The Learning Grove

Students at Horton Elementary School show off the fruits of their labor at The Learning Grove, the first school garden in San Diego.

Created from scratch by advertising agency NYCA — who brought their “grow!” philosophy to life by reaching out to the local corporate community to literally help seed the effort — the garden was officially dedicated yesterday by San Diego Councilman representative Roosevelt Williams III, NYCA CEO Michael Mark and Horton Elementary School Principal Robin McCulloch. Students proudly gave tours of the garden, sharing what they’ve learned about Plants, Nutrition, Sustainability and Responsibility.
